MARION COUNTY SPRINGS FESTIVAL TO HOST SECOND AMATEUR
PHOTO CONTEST AT SILVER RIVER STATE PARK

Amateur photographers capturing views of Marion County’s springs and rivers can submit their works for judging and cash prizes in the second photography contest for the 7th Annual Marion County Springs Festival scheduled at Silver River State Park on Sept. 20. Photo categories include landscape, wildlife, recreation and black-and-white, and rules and applications are available on-line at www.springsfest.org.
All photos must be mounted on mounting board, not larger than 14”x14” format, and the back of each entry must have the photographer’s name, address, phone number, category and photo title. A digital format (CD) copy of the photo must also be submitted. There is a limit of one entry per category. See the application for more information.
Judging will be done by the Festival’s Photography Committee with criteria being visual impact, composition, quality, appeal and relativity to the Springs Festival’s theme of springs protection. All entries will be exhibited at the Sept. 20 event at Silver River State Park.

THE SIXTH ANNUAL MARION COUNTY SPRINGS FESTIVAL NOW ACCEPTING APPLICANTS FOR THE THIRD SPRINGSONG CONTEST

 To celebrate the some of the greatest treasures of this state, the Marion County Springs Festival Committee wishes to encourage more original songsand singing about these natural wonders; Florida’s fresh water springs. Musicians may enter their original songs for consideration by the committee.  The top winning entries will be invited to sing at the Seventh Annual Marion County Springs Festival, to be held at Silver River State Park on Saturday, September 20, 2007. The best songs will also be recorded on a CD including top entries for the last three years for future use in Florida springs protection.

The contest rules are simple:

·            The work must be about springs, any springs within Florida

·            The work must be original, anyone is eligible to enter

·            The work must be available for use by the Springs Festival Committee, whether or not you win
